Sometimes while casually working on my photos, such as re-naming files, esp adding widest dimension, I see something that makes me STOP!

My eyes grew larger as I increased the view size. I started crying.

Claude Bessy, aka KICK BOY. I considered him then and now “the voice of LA punk.” He was the outrageous, in-your-face main writer and personality at Slash Magazine.

I adored him! But I kept my distance. He didn’t always keep his distance, laffing at a cherished memory which I’ll share in my club. His partner, Philly aka Philomena Winstanley, was so sweet. I wouldn’t even flirt with him. But I loved his face and voice and great personality!

When I saw him ONSTAGE, leaning on the wall, with his usual BIG handsome smile, while John Denney and the Weirdos were waiting for someone to do something with a cord onstage, my whole mood changed.

Claude and Tomata Du Plenty are always popping up in my photos.

My eyes get big, I start to cry, and am overjoyed to find yet another photo of either or be reminded of a beloved image. And of course Kickboy and Tomata were friends.

Slash Magazine, way before the record company, loved Tomata and the Screamers cos what’s not to love?!

I captured the wonderful Kickboy at the Masque’s last “official” night, January 17, 1978. #Kickboy being so stylish, as usual!

Now you can live with him too! It’s one of my few photos I currently sell. Although I’m always willing to prep an image not posted, but was in my book, Punk Pioneers, or maybe some other books too. Takes time to set up products. Wish I could clone me a few dozen times to do it all. Til then, enjoy the best of my many good memories and photos.
