I get it. Why am I posting this? Cos I’ve spent a lotta time and lost a LOTTA money dealing with my punk archive. Trying to find a home for it. Shall I die and it remains homeless? No, I’m not donating it. That’s rude to me. Why should YOU have the fruits of my labor which put me into debt many times and I get nothing? FU. So All of you who love my work but don’t support the artist, you are mean and selfish. Why can’t you bother to post my pix and tell ppl? Why won’t you tell ppl to remember my pix for gifts or home/office decor. You don’t throw a few bucks my way. What is WRONG with you? I never made money. #GetReal. This archive is endangered due to FINANCES. I’ve put myself into debt COS OF MY PUNK PIX. #Truth The rest of you, who haven’t Donated or bought or even shared many times? Creem Magazine and Photographer Jenny Lens

Creem Magazine was THE ROCK magazine. The best of the best was, without a doubt, Creem. Forget Rolling Stone. Corporate and usually dismissive of Punk. Yes, Creem magazine was the BEST ROCK MAG. Ever. Read on to see they didn’t treat me that well, lost slides, but hey, THEY WERE IT. And Creem, of all the mags, deserves to be honored, remembered and most of all, CELEBRATED. Contribute to the documentary fund-raiser, til August 5, 2016! Creem was one of the few magazines who actually put photographer’s names on their masthead. This is a major list of who’s who of rock photography. Note the author of the Creem book is not listed. Yeah. Ok, so why we MUST have THIS version? The TRUTH. Creem magazine and I started our relationship in early 1976. Let’s start at the beginning. Late 1975, while waiting in line at the grocery store, I glanced at a new magazine called “People.” I lived in the northeast corner of the Valley, in Granada Hills. I stopped when seeing a photo of a rather androgynous looking woman. Quoting Rimbaud. I figured any rock n roller who knows the Symbolist poets is someone I want to know. I will never forget first listening to Patti’s “Horses.” My life was totally and irreversibly changed. I wanted to read everything I could about this new thing called “Punk music.” But mainstream media wasn’t having it. They were not fans. Only a handful of magazines and fanzines were covering punk in late 75 and early 76. I also had a disadvantage because I was out in the Valley. We didn’t get a...

Jewish Punks 1974-80

Ramones, Sex Pistols, Clash, Patti Smith Group, Lou Reed, photographers, writers, managers were often Jewish punks. I compiled this list in 2005. I have poor Jewdar. I was stunned to find out so early punks were Jewish. Now you can find books, blogs, articles and more. But in 2005, my post was radical! NEW YORK Ramones: Joey [Jeffrey Hyman] RIP, and his brother, Mickey Leigh (who roadied for them). Original drummer Tommy Ramone. Gabba gabba hey, we accept you! Blondie: Chris Stein Blondie and The Know: Gary Valentine [Lachman] Bob Gruen, photographer Danny Fields: Ramones first manager, history starting with the Doors, Iggy, Dolls and so many more. We OWE Danny so much!!! Dictators: Handsome Dick Manitoba [Richard Blum], Andy Shernoff, Scott “Top Ten” Kempner [always so kind to me] and Ross “the Boss” Freidman Lisa Robinson, journalist Lou Reed, Velvet Underground and soloist NOT Lydia Lunch [her email: “Sorry hon, the nose is Sicilian, the name is German. can’t be part of every list.” Birth name Lydia Koch. Ha, I originally wrote I didn’t think she was Jewish, and for once, my hunch was right!] Marty Thau, original manager of the New York Dolls, co-producer of Suicide, owner of Red Star Records, producer of Ramones 1st recordings, record company of Richard Hell’s 2nd album. [Marty was kind enough to write me! What a thrill to hear from him!] Mumps: drummer Paul Rutner and Joe Katz [bass player who replaced Kevin in the Mumps. He went on to be the bass player in Swinging Madisons, Kristian Hoffman’s post-Mumps band]. New York Dolls: Sylvain Sylvain [Steven Mizrahi], Arthur Kane RIP [ need verification,...

Framed Customer Photos

My wonderful photo collector, Angus, in England, sent photos of my Clash Photo and Certificate framed. I’m terrible about compiling these. I’ve many framed images lost in emails and files. This makes me so sad. I sell my photos for less than framing costs. I should have learned how to frame, bought a house instead of photographing punk. I wanted to do that. If I had, I’d be living in house now worth a cool Million or Million and A Half. Instead I was, and remain, obsessed w/making ART. So sad. Teaching and Coaching makes me happy cos I help so many. I make art for myself, teaching for others. That was the plan. Not becoming a famous punk photographer and all it entails. Always teaching, sharing, creating for the benefit of others. Yes, customers get a print cropped, color corrected, signed, numbered and a certificate. Check out my Jenny Lens Photo Store. I can’t wait to stop. When my teaching site, Creative Vision Academy,  goes live! Working for the clampdown. The Clash were THE best LIVE band ever! X came close, and of course, the Ramones. But I’m a political animal. No one was ever more prophetic and right on than the Clash. What say...
